True Classic Tees vs Fresh Clean Tees

With so many basic apparel lines out there today, these two have emerged as the leaders in the affordable premium tee market. The question is, what’s the difference between these two? Having ordered from both of these companies I was able to get a lot of information in regards to their shipping process and quality of product.

Quality of Shirts

The overall quality of the shirts seems to be very similar. Both use 60/40 ring spun cotton/polyester blends for all their short sleeve tees minus the pocket tees and long sleeve tees. The only major difference I noticed was that the reviews on FCT seem to point to issues from the hem line becoming unraveled which doesn’t seem to be an issue on TCT.

Market Share

For starters, TCT has exploded on the scene in the last few months and FCT has been around since 2016. Even though FCT has been on the scene for awhile, TCT is quickly gaining market share in record time since launching in late 2019. On the surface, FCT has more followers on their social platforms but that makes sense provided that it’s been around for 4 years now. Time will tell which one of these brands will reign supreme.

Update 2021: True Classic Tees has pulled ahead as the market share winner over the last 9 months.

Shipping Times & Cost

Shipping really matters in an Amazon Prime world. People want their packages within a few days or they start complaining up a storm. The biggest difference in shipping comes down to which carrier the company uses.

  • TCT uses FedEx which ships nation wide in 1-2 days max. Shipping cost ranges from $4-7 and free over $60.
  • FCT uses DHL which is closer to 4-10 days shipping nationwide. Shipping cost ranges from $6-8 and free over $100.

Pricing

For premium tees it’s rare to find anything less than $30 these days. Both these tee companies have a great price point for premium tees.

  • FCT comes in at $17.00 per shirt and $51 for a 3-pack.
  • TCT starts at $20.99 per shirt and $54.99 for a 3-pack.

Mission

The mission of a company is important to a lot of people. They want to know that their purchase is helping someone other than themself. Every great brand that exists has some sort of mission to help others in need.

  • TCT helps build homes for homeless vets in Savannah, GA for an organization named CSAH.
  • FCT doesn’t seem to have any mission at this point in time.

Customer Service

People love to be taken care of. If an issue arises, they want to know that somebody is going to take care of their returns, exchanges or questions about sizing. I ran a little test to see who would respond faster through DM on IG and email.

  • TCT responded within 30 mins on IG and 1.5 hours over email.
  • FCT responded within 6.5 hours on IG and 4 hours over email.

Overall

The clear cut favorite here is True Classic Tees winning 5 out of 6 categories. Faster & cheaper shipping, faster customer service response, cheaper product, mission that helps others and a higher quality product overall. At the end of the day, you can’t go wrong with either of these. Both companies put out great products at an affordable rate compared to the rest of the premium tee market.
